Measure a jacket you already own and like, then compare it with ours. That single step solves more sizing problems than any chart, because it takes your body, your layers and your taste in fit out of the equation at once.
How to measure a jacket you already have
- Zip or button it up and lay it flat on a table. Smooth it out. Do not stretch it.
- Chest: measure straight across, from one armpit seam to the other. Write that number down. It is a half-measurement, and ours are too, so you are comparing like with like.
- Length: measure from the highest point of the shoulder straight down to the hem at the back.
- Sleeve: measure from the shoulder seam to the end of the cuff.
Two numbers do most of the work: chest and length. Sleeve matters for jackets, not for vests.
Reading our size guide
Where a style has a published measurement chart, it lists the garment measured the same way: flat, half-chest, back length. It is not a body chart. A 20 inch half-chest on the table is a 40 inch garment around, and how much room that leaves depends on what you plan to wear under it.
If a style has no chart yet, that is because our supplier has not confirmed the numbers in writing. We would rather show a gap than a number we cannot stand behind, and the style stays off sale until the chart is on the page.
Between two sizes
| What you want | What to do |
|---|---|
| Room for a sweater or a hoodie underneath | Size up |
| A close fit over a tee or a shirt | Size down |
| A vest that layers over a knit | Size up. Vests have no sleeve to fight with, so the extra room reads as intended. |
| A cropped jacket | Size down. Sizing up on a cropped cut adds width without adding length, which changes the shape. |
| A rain shell | Size up. You will almost always wear something under it. |
Between two sizes and still unsure
Email support@festivehaven.com with the style name and the chest and length you measured. We answer within 1 business day and we will tell you which one we would send.
If it arrives and the size is wrong, that is what the return window is for: 30 days from delivery, a prepaid label we email you, and no restocking fee. An exchange for a different size works the same way. The details are on our returns page.
One thing worth repeating
The same style costs the same in every size. XS and XXL are the same price, so nothing about sizing up should feel like it costs you extra. Read why our pages open with a drawing if you want to see what else the images can tell you before you order.
